always learning and growing

Over the past couple of months... my life and emotions have been on a roller coaster ride.  I have had many great and wonderful things happen in my life and then I have had some hard trials that have come upon me.  It is so easy to give yourself a pitty party and just bathe in the trials that you are in and unfortunately I was doing that for some time.  This past week was one of the hardest weeks that I have gone through in a really long time.  But after a reality check and a wonderful Priesthood blessing I have been able to get over the hump and I was able to get over the hump through the love of Our Savior, Jesus Christ.
I really thought through the trials that I was alone,  but I wasn't.  Jesus Christ, Our Savior, was by my side through it all.  He felt the pain and heart ache that I have been feeling and he was the only person who really knew how to comfort me during this trial.  Through this trial my testimony has grown stronger of the Savior's love.  I know that Jesus is the Christ.  I know that Jesus was sent to walk this earth and be a perfect example to us.  He was perfect in very way.  I know that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins.  I know that I am not alone in my trials because Jesus Christ has felt my hurt before I have felt it.  I know that Jesus Christ was crucified and then resurrected.  I know that through his resurrection that I to will be resurrected and be perfected.  I know that Jesus was part of Heavenly Father's plan, the perfect plan, and that he needed to walk on this earth and needed to die and be resurrected so that I, and everyone that walks on the face of this earth, might have the opportunity to live, once again, with our Heavenly Father.

I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I am grateful that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint.  If you are interested to learn more about the Savior and the love that he has for everyone visit this website.  www.mormon.org

Devastation in Haiti

Poor Haitians.
Completely destroyed
sad
frightening
looting
death

As I have been watching the unfolding events that keep happening in Haiti I am reminded of our Savior and of his sacrfice for us.  I have to remember that he felt the pain that the Haitians are experiencing and that he has also felt the pain that we experience in our everyday life.  I am grateful for my testimony in the Savior and I know that he loves each of us and knows that life is difficult at times but by having faith in him and in our Heavenly Father that we will be able to get through all things that come our way.

The music is perfect.  The pictures are inspiring.
The spirit is strong. The Savior is perfect.

Be thou Humble...

Today at church we sang "Be Thou Humble."  I was touched by the spirit today while singing this song and it helped me to remember that we need to be humble in everything that we do in life.  I have been kind of having a horrible and ungrateful attitude the past couple weeks.  And this song really put in to perspective the importance of being humble and that it was something that I NEEDED TO WORK ON.

Be thou humble in thy weakness, and the Lord thy God shall lead thee,
Shall lead thee by the hand and give thee answer to thy prayers.
Be thou humble in thy pleading, and the Lord thy God shall bless thee,
Shall bless thee with a sweet and calm assurance that he cares.

Be thou humble in thy calling, and the Lord thy God shall teach thee
To serve his children gladly with a pure and gentle love.
Be thou humble in thy longing, and the Lord thy God shall take thee,
Shall take thee home at last to ever dwell with him above.

I do know that Jesus is the Christ.  I do know that he lives and that he loves each of us individually.  I know that we need to go to our Heavenly Father in prayer and that we can count on him no matter what the circumstance.  I am grateful for my life and the things that I am blessed with.  And I am also grateful for the trials that I have experienced because they have made me grow closer to my Heavenly Father.  I know that if we are meek and humble that the Lord will help us through our trials and that we will be better people from it.

This ones for Ashley!!

During our thanksgiving vacation to North Carolina Ashley had us watch a wonderful video from her childhood.  The video was alright, but the best part of the video was a magician part.  Alan and I decided that we wanted to re-enact it for our ward christmas party.
This is what we came up with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hZnw2NsVbg

DIY coat tree

Alan and I were bored one day and so we decided to put together a coat tree. My grandpa used to make coat trees but has now stopped. Unfortunately I did not get one before he stopped, so Alan and I decided that we would try to make one ourselves. This project was a great test of our patience with doing projects and also with each other. We survived and we are so happy with the way it turned out.

The base is made out of black walnut that Alan's parents so kindly donated to our cause.

The pole is made out of a thick dowel and a table leg

And it is able to hold on to coats and not tip over!!!

We were happy that the project was completed!!
